2011 Holiday Spirit Appeal

This past year CAN advocated for several individuals with legal, health and interpreting services. These individual clients would not have been able to afford these services if not for CAN.

Unfortunately, however, for every individual provided support services five (5) were turned away due to lack of funds.

During this holiday season we are asking if you can help us meet our financial goals by providing funds and contributions in the form of a grant or by donating goods and services. We will send you a copy of our tax exempt certificate upon your donation.

In other ways to donate, visit the Good Search Engine to buy any products and gifts online through Good Shop. See below for instructions.

If you are able to help support CAN we will post your name and/or business on this website and brochures in the year of 2012.

Thank you and Happy Holidays,

CAN Board of Directors

She had resigned from the CAN Board of Directors as Secretary effective January 1, 2011. She had contributed a great job to help CAN move forward as well as she was an invaluable asset to ensure that CAN works with State of CT Board of Education and Services for the Blind.

12/23/2008:

Happy Holidays

I would like to extend, "thanks" to the Board of Directors and Committee for their continued support. In spite of slowing progress in 2008, we had learned some new experience during the volunteer hours at the Hartford Deaf Club and had believed that some consumers had been satisfied after receiving some assistance and consultation.

Since May 1, 2008, the office had recorded for the log report:

Ten (10) Deaf and hard of hearing consumers;

Some issues had been covered from medical, housing, disputes among organization, job, SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) and health insurance.

We like to express our gratefully thanks to the Hartford Deaf Club for using the office space for temporary.

Enjoy Happy Holiday! We will see you in 2009.

Warm regards,

CM Boryslawskyj,
Chair, CAN Board of Directors

New Board Director Joins

Brynn Hickey accepted an appointment of board director. She is working as Outreach Coordinator at DNEC (Disabilities Network of Eastern CT). Her unique skill is a great benefit to the CILs because she is able to use ASL fluently as though she is hearing.

As you see the white paper about DNEC and the Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in the right column, she provided some excellent information about how the CILs serve the people with disabilities in the state of CT. We believe that she will bring an invaluable asset to support the CAN and its goals.
